11 Best Gaming Laptops on Amazon Prime Worthy of A Gamer On The Move

11 Best Gaming Laptops on Amazon Prime Worthy of A Gamer On The Move

If you’re an Amazon shopper and are in need of a laptop for gaming because you tend to be on the move and not the stationary desktop type of person, there are a handful of gaming laptops on Amazon Prime that may be within your price range.

Before you buy, make sure Amazon Prime Day isn’t around the corner. If it is, and you have enough patience, you could get amazing deals on these during those two days.

To further help your wallet on the prices, we’ve categorized these laptops into specific price-points. So if you know your budget limit is a thousand dollars, then you won’t want to look at the over thousand dollars gaming laptops.

Also keep in mind, there are different models of some laptops.

On some products, you can choose different specs for the laptop which may lower or up the price point. It’s all a pick and choose, really.

Just make sure you get the right laptop for the games you play.

Key Features for Gaming Laptops

CPUs

AMD and Intel are the two CPUs you’re going to come across.

The starting number is one thing you’ll want to look at.

  • iX-xxxx (Intel)
  • Ryzen X-xxxx (AMD)

Higher numbers typically pinpoint better performance, and that’s the same for both of them. An example would be Intel Core i7 may have a leg up on performance on Intel Core i5.

The next number you’ll focus on is the generation of the processor.

  • ix-Xxxx (Intel)
  • Ryzen x-Xxxx (AMD)

Again, the same with the chips, you’re looking at a better performance depending on the generation you’re choosing. If you’re looking for the best gaming laptop in any category below, you’ll want the higher numbers on both core and processor.

Hard Drive

SSDs provide you with more space the more GB you have. Not only that, but their best performance is when they’re filled less than 70% of their limit, so keep that in mind when you’re choosing which gaming laptop for your games.

I’ve got a lot of games that I switch back and forth to, so I’d want more hard drive space than someone who might solely focus on one specific game, such as Overwatch or League of Legends.

It also depends on what you do in the background–like streaming or video editing.

Personally, I use a 1TB external hard drive to hold all of my games, just so I can play any of them I want when I switch from my desktop to laptop.

RAM

RAM is something you’ll need to pay attention to, because the higher amount of RAM you have, the better your game will play and the less amount of background processes you’ll have to kill to get the game to play better.

Higher RAM usually results in better FPS, but it’s not always a sure factor.

16GB is usually the go-to amount as it’s middle-ground territory, with 8GB being the lowest. If you find your game just isn’t quite reaching its potential, you might need to consider an upgrade, another game, lowering the graphics settings in-game, or closing out any other open applications you’re not currently using.

Anything over 16GB is great for content creation–such as livestreaming to Twitch or YouTube–while keeping the gameplay at a star rating, multi-tasking, or even if you’re editing and rendering videos for uploading elsewhere.

Refresh Rate

The typical gaming refresh rate is 60hz–anything lower and you’ll find yourself lagging in the game. The number indicates how many times your screen refreshes per second. The higher the refresh rate, such as 144hz, the smoother your game will play–game and other specs of the laptop depending.

Screen Display Size

The screen display is all up to your personal preference, but due to these being laptops, you’ll be stuck with the resolution of 1920×1080, and you wouldn’t want anything less than that. Otherwise the games will look shrunk and the graphics won’t be that great.

The average size is 15.6 inches, which is a normal size for a laptop.

If you can contend with smaller, that’s great. The bigger sizes can be a bit more bulkier and might not fit most average-sized laptop bags. You’ll need to upgrade those to fit the larger ones.
