Astro’s Playroom – Worthy of Playing as an Adorable Robot

Astro’s Playroom – Worthy of Playing as an Adorable Robot

Astro’s Playroom is a PlayStation 5 game that comes along with the console, whether you wanted a free game or not. You should be happy it’s free. Everyone loves free games. Even free games they’ll never play.

But this one is cute enough to actually want to play.

If you’re into cute robots.

Astro and his crew lead you on a magical introduction through PS5 in this fun platformer that comes pre-loaded on PS5. Explore four worlds, each based on PS5’s console components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay that taps into the new features of the PS5’s DualSense wireless controller. Astro’s Playroom is coming to PlayStation 5.

Is Astro’s Playroom worthy of me?

Astro actually reminds me of…well, I think I was thinking about EVE from Wall-E, though I never watched the movie, but after delving into some images, I realize there’s actually a lot of freaking white robot look-alikes out there.

So let’s just say Astro reminds me of the coloration of the PS5 because logic dictates he should.

He also definitely looks like mascot material. I could actually see him in a logo design or something. I don’t know if that’s what PlayStation would choose in the future, but I mean it’s a pretty cool concept.

I find it interesting they made up the four levels to be based on the console’s components. So it sort of shows off what the PS5 is capable of in a fun little game. A tutorial to the console, perhaps? Before you get into any other of the major games, maybe? Not to mention all the little PlayStation additions thrown into the game itself, if you pay enough attention.

Looking at the gameplay, I’m reminded of Spyro (especially the whole electrocuting floor area), Banjo Kazooie, and Super Mario Odyssey, with maybe little throwbacks to other games.

I think Astro’s Playroom would be a good game for the entire family, of course. Plus give some nostalgia moments. Something to talk about.

I’m curious on how long the game is and how many collectibles there actually are. Surely not a very long game, but it’s nice to explore an entire level to its fullest without seeming rushed to be done with it.

Astro seems to be having a blast, at least.

Well, when he’s not being electrocuted.
