Birthday Cake in a Mug – Worth a Sip of Sweetness

Birthday Cake in a Mug – Worth a Sip of Sweetness

When you can’t be there for a relative or a friend for their birthday, it’s best to just send them a Birthday Cake in a Mug as a special treat and wishes for many more to come.

Many more special treats, that is.

Birthdays you have to wait a whole year for, but treats should be given sporadically all throughout the year.

Of all the birthday gifts, this one takes the cake. Send the chocolate lover in your life this sweet kit that includes a ceramic mug, cake mix for two microwave “cup” cakes (just add an egg, oil, and water), and—because no bday treat is complete without them—multi-colored sprinkles and a candle. Illustrated with a row of colorful candles, a special birthday wish appears in a wisp of smoke: “and many more.”

Food ingredients made in Canada. Candles made in Massachusetts. Mug made in China and decorated in the US.

Is the Birthday Cake in a Mug worthy of me?

I like the concept.

I’m sure it’s not a brand new concept or entirely fresh on the idea, but in the times of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s hard to get out and visit those you care about. Especially if they live in another state. So I feel like sending a birthday cake in a mug is a perfect way to send them a gift that they can keep and cherish–the mug–as well as a cake.

Just keep in mind they’ll have to actually make the cake themselves, but once they do and start eating it, they could send you a picture of them enjoying it, or the both of you could do a video conference talking about the gift.

As far as the cake itself, it’s been noted in the reviews it’s pretty good, but I suppose that all depends on someone’s tastebuds and ability to follow baking instructions.

It’s not every day you bake something in a cup, after all.

And the cup is a sweet reminder, even if their birthday is over. Next year they can use it again–maybe not to make a cake in, but certainly to drink out of and reminisce.
