I wanted to create a post of gifts for bus drivers to show my appreciation for them not only during the time of duress that we’ve had to deal with, but even during my childhood, I couldn’t even fathom what it would be like to have this kind of job.
The screaming kids. Them constantly throwing stuff at one another, and jumping from seat to seat.
Me? I just wanted to sit by myself and near the window so I could sleep.
And I actually did sleep half the time, and missed my stop. Once, the driver actually went all the way to the end of the route to the bus stop and had to call my mom to come get me, because she thought everyone was off the bus, since I was slouched down in my seat fast asleep.
Nothing can stop me from sleeping if I’m tired, and that basically hasn’t stopped being the case to this day.
Kudos to you bus drivers.
Gifts for Bus Drivers
Bus Charm Ornament
A stunning half carat school bus charm that hangs in the center of kind of what could be considered a snowball, if you think about it. At the top is I assume some holly?
The yellow and red of the bus pop out against the silver which makes it a beautiful decorative piece for a Christmas tree.
Bus Driver Theme Necklace
While the kids on the bus might not be the driver’s kids specifically, and there’s a charm in the necklace that says “Love my kids,” in a way, they are their kids. They spend a lot of time with them, get to know them, take care of them, keep them safe until they get them home where they belong.
There’s a reason why bus drivers love their job. They love their kids.
Thus, this is a necklace that they’re also sure to love with the variety of charms inside.
Foldable Garbage Can
Kids make a mess. Sometimes things need to be cleaned up and thrown away, which makes the foldable garbage can super handy. Not only that, but they blow their nose, or have candy wrappers, and maybe the bus driver wants to toss something as well?
It’s one of the gifts for bus drivers that isn’t actually in the form of a bus, but it’s almost an essential for a bus.
Plus, I’d say it’s better than a regular bucket of a trash can that can fall over and spill everything.
Glass Blown Ornament
A bit different from the previously mentioned ornament.
This one’s a gift for bus drivers who just want something normal and less extravagant, and the only extravagant thing they’ll get out of this Christmas ornament is all the glitter that the bus had previously gotten into a wreck with.
Heartbeat T-Shirt
When you love your job enough, it shows through how much heart you put into it. This shirt also shows their heart rate monitor and the school bus and love that comes with it.
It might be more of a personal gift for bus drivers, like if it’s your parent of something, because you’ll need to know their size. And I don’t know how you’ll get that kind of information out of your regular bus driver that just picks you up and drops you off on a route day after day.
Might be weird to ask.
Lumbar Support Pillow
Bus drivers are constantly on the road, and roads are not exactly the smoothest thing, and people are not good at proper posture.
That’s where this support pillow comes into play.
It should help out with any kind of back pain your bus driver might have, if they’ve ever complained about it before. They can use it during their routes, and at their house.
Pop-Up Card
On the cover, you’ve got this cute kid rushing forward to reach the school bus before the doors slam shut in their face forever!
(I’m so melodramatic.)
And when you open, this adorable school bus pops up in 3D fashion, waiting to be filled up with kids. Which would be super cool, to create lightweight figurines to put in there.
One of the best gifts for bus drivers if you know their birthday is coming up and you can have a bunch of other kids sign the card as well.
Pot Holder
This is one of the best gifts for bus drivers on bus driver appreciation day for sure–or any other day, really–especially if you know they enjoy any kind of cooking or baking.
It’s sure to give them a good laugh when they see it.
Salt and Pepper Shaker Display Stand
Yes, I love this school bus display stand for the salt and pepper shakers.
You can set the stand wherever it needs to be in the kitchen without taking too much room, but have both shakers together, plus, it vibes with the bus driver profession.
Adds a bit of a unique touch.
School Bus Analog Clock
Your bus driver can set this analog clock wherever they’d like–be it in their own bus or in their own home as a reminder of when to get up to start in on their route to pick up the kiddos, or of the days when they had to do such a thing, if they happen to be retired.
Either way, it’s a nice gift, and a constant reminder.
Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
School Bus Planter
Planters are all the rage with, like, everyone, because they’re super easy to take care of. Not saying other plants aren’t easy to take care of, but these guys are small and don’t require much maintenance.
Plus, a small planter like this can be placed almost anywhere you want.
Don’t worry. The parking brake is on.
School Bus Wind Chime
This is quite the windchime made specifically for those who either drive a school bus now or used to be school bus drivers back in their day.
It’s a pleasant gift to show your appreciation to them and they can set it up wherever they like outside in order to listen to the sounds it makes when the wind stirs the vehicles into motion.
No gas needed.
Student Delivery Specialist Tumbler Mug
Some might say storks are good for delivering babies, but nobody is as good as delivering students as a bus driver, and because bus drivers are stuck in a vehicle for so long, it’s nice to give them something where they can store some cool refreshing water in to stay hydrated during their route.
I’d say that makes this a pretty darn good gift for bus drivers.
They See Me Rollin’ T-Shirt
This shirt makes me laugh, and I think it’ll make any bus driver and student who gets on the bus and sees a bus driver wearing it laugh as well.
Mainly because it’s true.
But it falls under the concept that you’ll need to know their shirt size, so it’s possible this is more for a bus driver who’s a family member.
Vehicle Clip Fan
It gets hot in a bus, and lord knows having the windows down doesn’t do anything to cool things down. It just circulates the hot air throughout the bus and makes things worse.
Trust me, as someone who doesn’t have A/C in her car and has to drive with her windows down, it doesn’t work.
But you can help out your bus driver by gifting them this vehicle clip fan to help hit them with some air that isn’t coming in from the armpits of Hell.
