Grasshopper – A Worthy App for Your Solopreneur Business

0

Look at the Grasshopper that just hopped into your phone and desktop for your business-calling convenience. If you downloaded it, that is. I mean, obviously if you didn’t download it to begin with, the thing never laid an app on your phone.

But if it did…it’s no longer a pest, but rather your calling companion.

Get a business phone number plus all of the features of a robust phone system without the expense of additional devices. That way, your personal number stays private and you always know when business is calling.

Is Grasshopper worthy of me?

Grasshopper works best for those who have a smaller, maybe localized business. Perfect for teams of one–meaning you’re the head honcho over all the communicating.

Back when my mom had her own baking business (whose only co-worker was my sister-in-law), she didn’t have a shop of her own. She worked in our house, in our kitchen, and used everything that was available to her without being too extravagant. (Don’t think we have the kitchen and supplies of Valerie Bertinelli or anything.)

I think Grasshopper would’ve been amazing for her business, because she’d get calls on her cell, rather than any business line that the both of them could access.

This app could’ve done that for them.

People wouldn’t have to know her cell phone number when looking at her business page on Facebook. It’s a bit intrusive as far as personal life, y’know? Who wants strangers calling them all the time and leaving voicemails or none at all.

Now, that’s all for a team of two.

If you have a somewhat larger business with more personnel on your team, then you might need something with a bit more juice behind it.

While I don’t have that kind of information, please check out Get VoIP’s post on alternatives to Grasshopper.

What are some other solopreneur business apps?

There are so many good things out there for solopreneurs who have their own business to tend to, and don’t always have a staff to help share the burden of their load. Unfortunately, not many apps do everything, so you might need to invest in more than one, depending.

  • Microsoft has an app called Microsoft To Do: It helps you plan things out and create tasks for yourself, so you don’t get burnt out or lose track of what needs to be done.
  • Zapier allows for automated workflows. I used it once upon a time and it’s really cool how it sets everything up for you. Definitely worth checking out if you’re on a lot of social media.
  • Square is an app for accepting credit card payments on your phone. If you’ve been to a convention with vendors, you may have noticed something like this app–highly useful for those who travel to conventions and sell their own goods.
  • GetResponse is for solopreneurs that deal with a lot of e-mail marketing or contacting clients through e-mail. There are plenty of done-for-you templates to choose from.
