Driving around out in the farmlands of the states, you’re going to come across the usual weathervanes that you won’t even pass a glance at–until you see this grasshopper weathervane.
Your neck’s going to feel that whiplash, and it may or may not be worth the pain, because who sees a grasshopper weathervane on a house or barn or anything these days? It’s as rare as a squirrel that doesn’t contemplate running out in front of your car to test your reflexes.
And then they have the nerve to re-think their life decision halfway across the road.

Is this grasshopper weathervane worthy of me?
I think it’s safe to say that East Coast Weathervanes has done a marvelous job of creating a very unique take on an animal weathervane. As mentioned before, who expects to see a grasshopper being a swinger, high on a rooftop?
(And if I don’t see a swingers’ weathervane after making that comment, someone better be working on it now.)
As for if it’s worthy of me?
I’m not too keen on insects. But grasshoppers are the cool kind of insect. If you can ignore the fact that they spit on your hands when you hold them. I think if I were to have any kind of insect sitting aloft anywhere, pointing me in the direction of the wind, it’d have to be a praying mantis. As an “I’ll bite your head off” mantra.
But really, I can see someone buying this grasshopper weathervane for around a garden, perhaps.
As long as it’s not some kind of statue of worship that brings about all the grasshoppers. I mean, you do know one of the plagues involves insects, right?
Locusts, sure, but I bet it all started with a grasshopper…

You can’t get much more interesting than a grasshopper weathervane, but we’re going to try to throw out some other winners your way. There are so many more concepts than just critters, and we hope these fit your windy standards.
- East Coast Weathervanes has made an adorable cat-and-mouse weathervane (and no, they aren’t the three blind mice).
- SWEN Products has a beautiful butterfly silhouette of a weathervane.
- Good Directions has a shotgun weathervane, for those lovers of the hunting season.
- Montague Metal Products features a nice little cottage and lighthouse weathervane–though unfortunately the lighthouse doesn’t work as a concept for lighting the way.
