The Death of Erin Myers – A Mystery Maybe Worth Solving

The Death of Erin Myers – A Mystery Maybe Worth Solving

While this detective story holds no flame to a Sherlock Holmes mystery, The Death of Erin Myers is a keen reminder that sometimes its best to lay our grudges to rest before they do so to us. Not that accidents don’t happen, but maybe she took it a little too far and that death might’ve been justified with a slight eye-roll and a “Come on, really?” from the audience.

The Death of Erin Myers

Is The Death of Erin Myers worthy of me?

  • Does have a nice, dark storyline to it
  • No backtracking
  • Eerie atmosphere & gritty art style
  • Timeline is a bit all over the place
  • Ending is lackluster and not really a shocker

The biggest downfall of The Death of Erin Myers is not only the fact that she happened to die, though that is kind of one of the biggest bummers on her part, but in regards to the game itself it’d have to do with the whole timeline setup they did. It’s a lot like Beyond: Two Souls, if you’ve ever played that. It goes back and forth between different places, instead of sticking to a linear, straightforward timeline.

I’m just not sure they needed to do it like that, or why they felt the need to do it like that.

Because in the end, her death falls in the center, not at the actual end of the timeline we’re looking at. Which makes me wonder if it’s even supposed to be a timeline in the first place?

It’s just confusing.

But that’s me starting with the cons.

Sweeping all of that aside, it actually has a pretty good detective story to it, if you like the dark, edgy mysteries people look into. And this is her looking into a specific person within her life, which makes it all the more personal.

It’s also a lesson that mistakes can happen to everyone when emotions are controlling our actions.

I want to say this game is sitting on the middle ground for me, but it’s not a game that I would play again for the fun of it or out of sheer boredom, just because the bouncy ball of the time frames and the fact that it just didn’t hold my attention like a detective game really should. So because of that, I’d have to say it’s unworthy of me for a do-over, but who knows.

It might be worthy enough for you to try.
