Whether it’s come by warship, by raven, by pick-up, by Amazon, or by Santa himself, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has arrived and has Odin got his watchful eye on Eivor as the Norns weave their threads of fate.
By saying that, I mean every time you die, that’s their doing. The Norns are having a good ol’ laugh, poking fun at your faulty combat skills and forgetful weapons upgrades and improper skill tree choosings and thinking you’re better than the people you’re up against.
They’re jerks.
Gods are jerks.
Even Kratos will tell you this.
Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla worthy of me?
First things first, I’ve purchased this product.
Secondly, if you’ve ever played the other Assassin’s Creed games, then you’re kind of getting into the same ordeal, it’s just a different structure and a different time, as is usual.
Maybe the one thing I don’t like too much is the open idea of switching your character’s gender throughout the game whenever you want, because it doesn’t really give that realistic vibe of who you are as a character.
Not that you ever have to switch your character’s gender, but it’s there if you want to.
Perhaps the in-game awards aren’t the best as some of the past games either–specifically Odyssey–but given the Norse times, maybe that can’t be too much of a fault? But given how early I’m writing this post, they can still pump out some wicked designs in the future for events and such or promo stuff. Who knows.
I mean, a giant wolf you can ride is cool and all but…it’s still just an oversized wolf when you get down to it.
Combat system has changed with the fact we’ve got stamina to keep an eye on, so no more spam-clicking buttons (damnit). Also, our raven companion no longer targets people by hovering over them like Ikaros had–we actually have to target them ourselves for him to pinpoint their location to us.
Kind of an extra step I’m not used to.
Definitely some changes with this game compared to the others. I can see the ups and downs.

So of course with Berserker Gear you’re going to have your very own gear set to have through the gameplay. Whether you stick with it or not is kind of up in the air. Still, it’s nice to have something like this at the start.
The Settlement Pack is going to help you with your settlement, which is something that’s pretty new–to me–in the Assassin’s Creed games. It’s basically your home where you’re going to be doing everything to build your civilization and craft weaponry and change mounts and all build romantic relationships.
The Longship Pack is purely cosmetic, offering a figurehead and sail to your longship.
The Set of Runes will help you out in combat as they’re used to improve your gear.
