Watch Dogs Legion Update 5.5 – Worthy of An Assassin Crossover

Step aside all you hacks in your animated masks and make room for Watch Dogs Legion Update 5.5 with its new woman in a white cloak making her way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and she’s homebound. Or on a mission.

Possibly the latter, and it’s doubtful they’ll know she’s there until they’re dead because that’s how assassin’s work.

Watch Dogs Legion Update 5.5

Is the Watch Dogs Legion Update 5.5 worthy of me?

  • New non canon Assassin’s Creed crossover character
  • Two new story missions
  • Two new world missions
  • Two new PvP modes
  • New co-op mode
  • Can’t play Legion of Dead offline

Well if you’ve got the Season Pass, then you don’t have much of a choice but to take the update with you, because…you get it. You’ve got it! Doesn’t mean you have to play the character or do anything new in the game, I suppose, it just means you can try all the new stuff out if you wanted, because you now have the means to do so.

But I think what they’ve done with this update is super cool because we’ve got a new character here named Darcy.

Darcy is a non canon character from the Assassin’s Creed side of the hood, and she’s now entered Watch Dogs’ side of the hood. Which means we now have a modern day Assassin who’s no longer connected to the Animus and can’t synchronize in quite the same way, so it’s an interesting concept that they’ve brought to life.

And quite possibly a fun one if the hallucination darts are anything to go by.

What are Darcy’s abilities?
  • Hidden Blade – The iconic Assassin’s Creed secret weapon. Improves your melee and allows you to perform takedowns from all angles.
  • Eagle Drone – Unfortunately, not quite the eagle you’re used to from the actual Creed games–this one’s a legitimate drone that can scout the area and self-destruct as well as emit a short-range electromagnetic pulse.
  • AR Disguise – You can disguise yourself to look like an enemy (also applying to allies in multiplayer) in order to gain access to restricted areas.
  • Assassin’s Gun – Maybe not a gun that you should prioritize using as an assassin. It packs a single high-damage punch of a shot. It also automatically reloads when holstered.
  • Assassin’s Dart Gun – My personal favorite. A dart gun that causes humans to go berserk and attack their own comrades. Automatically reloads when holstered.

What are the PvP modes?

  • Invasion PvP

This is less like Dark Souls invasion–because you’re not aiming to outright attack a specific player.

Instead, with Invasion PvP Invaders are trying to be as stealthy as possible and basically stealing other people’s identities and use other tools of deception so you don’t get caught as you try to complete the download. Meanwhile, the Search team will be using their weapons, tools, and abilities as well as anything in the environment around them to find and stop the Invaders from finishing the download.

  • Extraction PvP

After obtaining crypto drives, it’s up to the players who have them to race across the city to upload the date–while also being hunted down by opposing players trying to stop them by all means necessary.

This update allows for players to reap some new rewards for winning this mode:

  • Crown of Wishes Mask
  • Timeless Livery Outfit
  • Ornate Nocturne Outfit

What’s Resistance Mode like?

Resistance Mode is kinda for the more hardcore players who like a good ol’ challenge. Here’s just a few of the things to look forward to in this type of campaign:

  • Almost all enemies are Elite and use their special gadget more often
  • Max ammunition is significantly reduced
  • Enemies detect you much faster
  • Most abilities, hacks, and gadgets have significantly longer cooldowns
  • Tube station fast travel is disabled
  • Injury and Arrest times are significantly longer
  • The Infiltrator Spiderbot cannot execute takedowns
  • Most civilians start out disliking DedSec
  • Permadeath is always ON

How did we find this product?

Because I play Watch Dogs: Legion, I’m on their newsletter and received an email about the update.
