Humans were the first to strike out with their cloned Pokemon failures, and now Mewtwo Strikes Back with his army of lethal cloned Pokemon that aren’t failures. Instead, he himself is the failure at not recognizing what living life truly means.
I think everyone has been in his metaphorical shoes as far as not recognizing the key to what life means.
Without the whole cloning ordeal to go with the mid-life crisis, of course.

Is Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back worthy of me?
Pros
- The start to a Pokemon lover’s journey–as far as movies go
- Philosophical words are spoken at the end
- You’ll remember why you love Pokemon
Cons
- Emotions will run amuck–you might ugly cry
There’s so much emotional engagement in this first Pokemon movie and I’m amazed how well the punch they packed was. I certainly wasn’t expecting the end of the movie to create such a deep connection to all things, and especially not the wise words that came from that of a telekenetic Pokemon like Mewtwo.
I’m getting a little ahead of myself here.
A group of scientist’s genetical mutation from the rare Pokemon Mew has created the most powerful Pokemon–Mewtwo.
Guess they should’ve watched Jurassic Park.
He gets a little pissed off at the idea of humans creating him as just a science experiment as well as the manipulation that Giovanni thought he’d be an asset to serve the likes of humans. Thus, the reign of Mewtwo begins and an invitation is sent out via Dragonite delivery service to all Pokemon trainers who believe themselves to be the best.
Very few are the so-called best, since a storm manipulated by Mewtwo stops a lot of them from crossing the ocean to their destination.
Basically, after everyone arrives, he releases Nurse Joy from his psychic control and a fight breaks out between Pokemon trainers and Mewtwo before he unleashes a horde of pokeballs to capture all the trainers’ Pokemon. Including those inside their own pokeballs.
Every Pokemon captured is then cloned and the originals are given back to their trainers.
The fight to be the very best begins with every clone fighting their original form, and Mewtwo fighting Mew.
It’s during this crucial moment of battle that Ash becomes the ultimate sacrifice by throwing himself between the two powerful Pokemon right as they release their attacks.
Pikachu cries.
Mewtwo comes to an understanding.
Emotions go haywire from Pokemon fans everywhere with these powerful words spoken by Mewtwo: “I see now that the circumstances of one’s birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.”
With that line alone, he’s the real MVP of the movie.
