20+ Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch Worth A Visual Read

20+ Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch Worth A Visual Read

If you’re looking for some Visual Novel games for the Nintendo Switch, then by golly you’ve come to the right post on the right website.

There are a lot of VNs out there, but there aren’t very many VN games for Switch, and those that are, many may not actually know about. That’s where this page comes into play. I’ve sorted most of it all out for you, but there is no best to worst.

Instead of descriptions or reviews of these VN games, I give you my thoughts on what I may know what the game’s about, or what I may think of it.

Visual Novel games for the Nintendo Switch

I can say for sure that there are a lot of VN games that I want to play, though I don’t have a Switch console to play them on. Which makes me happy that a lot of the ones I want to play are also available on Steam.

I know. I felt that near-miss.

Cinders

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

It’s a Cinderella type of fairytale that you can break the rules in. Which means it has a variety of different endings and choices to make. What would’ve happened if Cinderella did what nobody else expected her to do? What if she lost both shoes?

Do play and tell.

Daedalus: The Awakening of Golden Jazz

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

It seems our grandfather was killed for reasons unknown. The only thing we know of it is a single word he left behind: Daedalus. I hope he doesn’t mean the Daedalic publishers, because they spit out some pretty good games.

Man I go off-track a lot.

Good thing I’m not a train…

Dream Daddy

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

It’s a dad dating simulator, and its your duty to go out and meet some of the other hot dads, because every hot dad deserves a spank–you know what? Never mind that.

One thing’s for sure, anyone who knows and enjoy the Game Grumps have bought and played Dream Daddy, which probably makes it one of the more well-known of the Nintendo Switch VN games.

Enchanted in the Moonlight – Kiryu, Chikage & Yukinojo

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

You’ve got this ancient power that you’ve never known about, right? One day malevolent forces try and attack you, but some men take it upon themselves to rescue you. They’re spirits as well, and they’ll protect you. Except, in order to protect you, they want that power.

How messed up is that? They better be giving me something other than phoenix downs to keep me alive if they want my kind of mojo.

Enchanted in the Moonlight – Miyabi, Kyoga & Samon

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

It seems like this is another play on the game mentioned above, only you have different male characters to protect you this time. I don’t see why they split it into two games though.

Why not just have a single game with all the men combined?

Oh, right…money.

Gakuen Club

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

Now, of course it’s going to be another school VN with a twist.

There’s a secret club going on after school hours and you happen to become a part of it in a small way. But then you get to know some of the students a part of it and things escalate from there I presume. It sounds cliche, right? Like a lot of other Visual Novels?

But damn…that art.

Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

There are so many school-based Visual Novels out there that it’s become almost a cliche. Which is why the devs have to create the game in a way it’s not boring, run-of-the-mill student stuff.

In Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa, we’re undergoing an investigation to figure out what dark secrets lay within, because, apparently, a lot of students are rather suspicious. And what student doesn’t look suspicious of something in school? Take a look at Harry Potter’s classmates. They’re all suspicious.

LongStory

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

While LongStory seems to be all about choosing who you are as a person and dating (or maybe not) someone you like best, there’s also an underlying mystery.

Who was the previous owner of your locker?

While it’s more about the former than the latter, I think I’d want to find out why someone mysteriously disappeared than some awkward school crushing. Maybe that’s just me.

My Girlfriend is a Mermaid

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

Also, it looks like the name got changed somewhere along the lines to She is Mermaid. Either way, here we have ourselves a sexy mermaid to deal with. Well…there’s an older one and a couple younger ones. Let’s keep this rated Teen, okay?

Nekopara Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Vol. 3

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

Nekopara has to be one of the VNs I hear talk about a lot. Which means a lot of people like these games. Maybe because they lean toward the perverted side of VNs, or perhaps there’s just a whole lot of furry-lovers out there.

If this isn’t a bestseller in all the Switch VN games on this page, I’ll be surprised.

Also, the link below points to the first one, but all three are on the site.

Our World is Ended [Day One Edition]

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

I always find it fun when a game has a game being played inside it–this one featuring a virtual reality system and new game engine called the W.O.R.L.D program.

Unfortunately, when it comes to mixing a digital world with reality, glitches can really muck up the situation in real-time, and that’s basically what’s happened here. The world’s about to be overwritten, and the team of Judgment 7 must find a way to fix it. But really, did we not learn anything from Digimon?

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

Now here’s something (somewhat?) new. You play as an attorney (obviously, from the name), and so you get to witness a variety of characters and cross-examine them. You also collect evidence and then use said evidence against others in order to come to the truth of a situation and call out the liars.

Planetarian

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

This game has a lot of hype around it for being produced by the creators of CLANNAD, another amazing title that I hear a lot about within the visual novel genre. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes buried underneath of the aforementioned game, so people who wish they knew about it sooner have to find out about it later with some digging.

This is one of those Visual Novel games for the Nintendo Switch that caters to a ton of people, just for storyline and character-growth purposes.

Pub Encounter

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

All right, a bar scene. I can dig it, because the protagonist doesn’t expect to meet someone interesting and go home with. I don’t even know if it’s a meet-and-greet or a take one home kind of night, but either way, you enter an unfamiliar pub and lo and behold there are some rich suits.

Wonder what happens next, you lush.

Robotics;Notes – DaSH

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

This takes place in 2020. Oh man. Brace yourselves for the iRobot pandemic.

(The pandemic thing was a complete joke, but looking back on it now as we go through quarantine, I’m just…astonished.)

That was a while back and all seems grand. Except our protagonist meets up with a strange man that he can’t get a peg on, and things are starting to happen that seem all too familiar. Is the robot rise beginning again? Find out more on Robotics;Notes – DaSH!

Root Letter: Last Answer

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

Another mystery VN! A letter is delivered years later than it should’ve been–which in itself is odd–and you come to find out your old pen-friend is dead. Which means you have to go to their hometown and investigate what exactly went down. What truth will be discovered?

I personally was never into math, but it looks good.

Spirit Hunter: Death Mark

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

I’ve played this game and I can vouch for how good of a play it is. It gets really creepy with all the monsters you have to deal with, but I love the fact that the ghosts have some kind of backstory to them that you unravel before you’re able to get rid of them.

If you haven’t played this Switch VN game and you like a little horror on the side, go for it.

Steins;Gate Elite

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

Basically, a band of tech-savvy students can change the past by e-mail via a modified microwave. Yeah, that sounds pretty weird, right? But what if you could do that? What would you even go about changing? Well, it’s not a good thing, because while pushing the boundaries of time, they’re tangled in a conspiracy around an organization and someone from a dystopian future.

The Charming Empire

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

This game’s voice actors come from different animes and games, so maybe you can place them as you play the game. The heroine is summoned by her older brother to live in the empire for momentarily unknown reasons. Eventually, she’ll find out her brother is not the same. Organizations are corrupt. And the protagonist? She’s…well, guided down a fate of love. Which sounds odd given the state of everything else.

The Men of Yoshiwara: Kikuya and Ohgiya

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

You’re looking for love in a place where baby boys aren’t born, from the sounds of it. And in the center of the island is where men gather. That’s your destination. And your path to love. How romantic. *eye-roll*

VA-11 HALL-A

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

From what people have been saying, this is quite the laid back game that’s most enjoyed at night or during a quiet time where you yourself can settle down with some alcohol and a good pair of headphones. Listen to what people have to say about their lives and the goings-on of the world around them. Pour them drinks and connect with them.

WILL: A Wonderful World

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

You wake up as a god, and with a cute talking pupper to boot (yeah, I’m sold). I don’t know how this came to be, and hopefully the game provides some info on it, but it’s now your job to help those in need. Much like the movie Bruce Almighty, you’ll be getting letters, and in those letters you’ll find a person’s problems, and even as you help those people, changing one’s fate can change another’s…

I just wanted to update that I’ve played this game and…it’s so good and touches on delicate subjects that may trigger some people.

World End Syndrome

Visual Novel Games for the Nintendo Switch

A dead body has drifted ashore, and after a high school murder, talk of the curse begins again. Can you imagine transferring to a new school after causing an accident that ended in your sister’s death, only to deal with more death? Terrible. Makes me want to play the game.

Final Thoughts

Had enough of reading all these Switch VN games? Me too.

But I really want to play a lot of them. It’s so relaxing not having to worry about any kind of combat and not needing to find a good moment to walk away from the game and do something. You can go at your own pace, without the rush of adrenaline.

Well, depending on which VN you’re playing, I guess.

In any case, I hope you’ve found some new games to play and love and cherish and all that.
