6 Products Worthy of Making A Kids Room Cleaner

Making a kids room cleaner is one of the most tedious jobs of a parent. I mean, assuming you’ve walked into a kid’s room and thought, “How the heck am I going to clean this bedroom?”

If you’ve ever had to deal with Spring cleaning and a child, then the chances are yes. Also, if you happen to be in the maid service and have come upon the closed door of a Keep Out kid, then that’s also a yes.

Either way, rooms are a way for everyone to make a statement about themselves. It’s our sanctuary and gives an impression on our likes and tastes and overall personality. Kids rooms are the worst sometimes, because their mindset is a tornado of all hads, haves, and wants. Plus they’re hard to motivate when it comes to cleaning. Heck, I’m an adult and it’s hard for me to be motivated to clean my room (which is why I often keep the door shut). Can’t imagine what it was like when I was a child.

Probably a lot cleaner.

So if you’re having trouble trying to find a way to clean their mess while they’re MIA (such as at school, mind you), we’ve found some ways that will help you and them keep their room a little cleaner.

Products for Making A Kids Room Cleaner

Storage for Stuffed Animals

Kids have a lot of toys, but the biggest toys are typically the stuffed animals, and they can basically be laying anywhere in the room, since it’s hard to stuff them into places. Not only because they won’t fit, but also because the locations don’t always suit the stuffed animals themselves. Don’t fret though, as there’s a place for every animal, be they alive or stuffed.

Those locations are called stuffed animal storage!

I know, catchy name.

There are a few different kinds of storage units to choose from, depending on how many stuffed critters your kid has.

Take the Bean Bag Animal Storage over on Wayfair, for instance. It provides a comfy spot for your kid to sit in their room as well as provides a place to store their stuff. Storage is obviously limited to a set amount and this could be good for the larger ones.

For kids that have a lot of stuffed animals of different sizes, you might try looking into a Toy Hammock. They’re more out of the way since their sole purpose is to attach to the wall.

A third option is for kids who have way too many stuffed animals to even be legal at their age, and those are Storage Zoos, which are cool little animal pen type of containers.

Beds With Storage Space

Beds can be pretty boring and generic. You buy one to sleep on it, I get it, but people tend to forget that beds actually have storage space, and I’m not just talking about underneath the thing, which is where most people shove the things they have no interest in anymore.

At least, that’s what I’ve done time and time again.

Different beds have different storage types, so that’s something to keep in mind, of course.

Also, you might want to hold off on this kind of purchase until your kid actually needs a new bed. Maybe they outgrew the other one or it’s just not holding up as well anymore.

For kids that have a variety of odds and ends–like desk accessories and books and figurines–and are in need of some kind of desk where they can do anything artistic or even work on a laptop for school and personal projects, you might look into the Twin Low Loft Bed with Storage at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

For kids that have only a few things that could do with being placed in drawers, there’s a Twin Size House Bed with Roof at Walmart. They could even throw a fun cover over the roof structure to make things more interesting.

Finally, if your kid has more books than anything else, there’s a Twin Kids Bookcase Bed on Amazon.

Fun Laundry Hampers

Nobody likes picking up after themselves, least of all kids, and it’s even more tiresome when they have a bland clothesbasket to drop their clothes into. Even I find it a chore just to not throw my clothes on the ground in a pile.

Kids need a little enticing to have their clothes not land on the floor, you know?

Luckily, there are a variety of kids clothes hampers that might interest them in the long run. For one, if they like to play sports–specifically basketball–then there’s an Over the Door Basketball Laundry Hamper. They can literally launch their clothes from across the room and try to score a point.

Unfortunately, there’s no scoreboard.

And if your kid just isn’t that into basketball, then perhaps they’d enjoy an Ice Cream Cone Hamper over on Pottery Barn?

Bookshelves

I’ve mentioned beds that have book storage on them, but if you don’t want to spend that kind of money, then you can always give your kids a new shelving system for their books and other paraphernalia. I kind of wish I had room years ago for something to store my books on years ago–with enough room for bookends as well–but I’ve got a lot of books.

Two different storage bins full under my bed, a row full on my dresser, and even a toy bin filled with nothing but reading material.

Hopefully your kid doesn’t have that much…yet.

Home Depot has an Open Bookcase Reading Nook that you might be able to set in front of a window so they can get some sun or enjoy the view, and even feel the breeze coming through. It’s not built to hold a lot of books, but it has space for other objects, maybe a succulent plant or a cherished photo or figurine.

If they’ve already got a spot for reading, then there’s a Phone Booth Kids Bookcase on Homary that they won’t even have to call collect for. I’m sure this is a nod to a certain series you might know, but either way, it’d be super cool in your kids room, and I’m sure they’d be stoked to use it. Even though they probably don’t know what a phone booth is.

Finally, if your kid has a lot of books to choose from, there’s a Rotating Bookshelf that has plenty of slots for all their reading needs.

Trash Cans

Another thing that’s seemingly forgotten about in a kids room is how trashy they can be when they don’t have an immediate place to put something. There are a variety to choose from–including desktop trash cans–but we’re sticking with the floor ones for now.

One of the perfect trash cans for a boys room would be the Space Capsule over on ApolloBox. They look so funky and cool, perfect for those who like anything to do with outer space.

As for a trash can for girls, there weren’t too many to choose from, but we found an adorable Bear Trash Can.

Small Toy Storage

We’ve tackled the heavy duty stuffed animal storage, but that kind of leaves the rest of the toys out of the picture. And lord knows if kids have anything, it’s freakin’ toys. Every year, birthdays and holidays, they’re probably going to get showered with more toys than they know what to do with.

Well we know what to do with them.

Put them in storage! But like, not forever. Not yet.

To get things started, AliExpress has an adorable Bunny Rabbit Cabinet Storage system that holds a ton of buckets to sort a ton of toys. That way kids shouldn’t dump all their toys into one place and have to rummage through everything.

If your kid’s into cute things, I’m sure they’ll be ecstatic over this.

If you’re not looking for that many buckets for storage or your kid won’t like that kind of cutesy thing in their room, how about a large Train Toy Organizer?

Technically, the front part looks more like a truck than a train, but hey, it looks cool. With buckets you can place on the bottom, as well as drawers on the side, and even a few open spaces, this will hold a variety of toys of all types.
